Since establishing Japan’s first training program for simultaneous interpreters in 1966, ISS has provided interpretation and translation training services for government ministries and agencies, local governments, major corporations, and educational institutions.
Many companies also use classes offered by our interpreter and translator training school, the ISS Institute, as part of their own employee training programs.
We also offer interpretation and translation training services that leverage our extensive experience in school management.

Using ISS Institute courses as corporate training
Clients can use our interpretation and translation classes as part of their own employee training programs. Our courses are frequently chosen to train employees whose jobs require language proficiency at the interpretation or translation level.
We can also accommodate requests for invoice-based corporate payment of course fees. To request invoice payment, please contact the program’s administrative office when applying.
Flexible study options
- Fully online via Zoom; no commute required (Translation courses can also be taken through recorded class videos).
- Regular courses begin in April and October and run for about six months (one class per week).
- Short-term intensive courses are offered in summer and winter.
- E-learning (on-demand video coursework) is available at any time.
About the ISS Institute
Founded in 1966 as Japan’s first simultaneous interpreter training program, the ISS Institute has long been dedicated to training professional interpreters and translators. Today, many of our graduates are active professionals on the front lines of their fields.
With professional interpreters and translators as instructors, the program provides highly practical, specialized lessons focused on real-world situations. Graduates go on to thrive in a variety of international arenas through ISS’s network of language professional services.

Because ISS operates a professional interpreter and translator training program, we can offer training programs that develop specialized interpreting and translation skills, a capability that remains out of reach of ordinary corporate language training providers.
These programs, which are ideal for advanced-level employees, help companies train in-house interpreters for meetings and negotiations as well as translators for internal and external documents.
